Fruit Link will participate in Siwa festival 2017
By producing 18% of the world production of dates; Egypt is a leading country and occupies the first place in producing dates, therefore, the dates’ sector is one of the most promising sectors that can contribute to the advancement of the Egyptian economy.
Egypt is currently implementing an integrated program (3rd Date Palm festival in Siwa) to promote the date sector through the development of the supply chains and the value of this sector with a focus on the transfer and application of modern technologies and good practices in all production and processing stages of dates and increase the added value of the final product and support Egyptian producers in different stages of marketing.
The third edition of the Egyptian Dates Festival will be held in Siwa City after the success of the first 2015 and second 2016 festivals in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Khalifa International Prize for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation. The festival will be held from 15~18 November 2017 in the city of Siwa.
The first two editions of Siwa festival included a number of events and activities like:
- Holding a scientific symposium
- Exhibition and market to display date products from Siwa farmers and Western oases
- Egyptian dates competition according to ten different categories
- Hosting four major dates exporters
- Offers folklore from Matrouh Governorate, New Valley Governorate, and the city of Siwa
The third festival of Egyptian dates is a continuation of the success achieved by the festival in its first edition 2015 and second 2016. The festival aims to shed light on the dates’ sector in Egypt and unify the efforts of all governmental institutions, research organizations, and international organizations to promote the sector and find practical solutions to the problems that the producers and manufacturers of dates are facing. And strengthen the links and exchange of experiences between producers and manufacturers of dates from inside and outside Egypt, and encourage innovation and competition through the competitions of the festival, and the transfer of information and the exchange of modern experiences through scientific seminars accompanying.
In this festival, Egypt will be hosting a number of the most important importers of dates from different countries around the world as well as inviting major exporters and marketing chains and large companies to open new horizons for manufacturers and producers of dates to market and export their products.
The strategic partners include the United Nations Economic Development Organization (UNIDO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Governorate of Marsa Matrouh, the Siwa City Council, the Siwa Society for Community Development and Environmental Protection and several public interest organizations.
The festival was a success beyond expectations because of the concerted efforts and the concern of everyone to promote the date palm sector in Egypt to the world.
